BABY SPENCER BORN 6 LB, 15 OZ

Although people say that each pregnancy is different, it is hard to imagine unless it is personally experienced. My first pregnancy was very easy for most of the nine months. I worked out, did gymnastics, and even took tennis lessons. I was also working full-time in a job that required constant travel. I cannot remember feeling overwhelmed by my pregnancy until I was forced to take bed rest in the last month.

Now, two years after we had Braeden, I was expecting our second child. I was much more cautious this time after experiencing two early-term miscarriages. I greatly reduced my activity, and breathed a sigh of relief after the first trimester. This time around my body ached so much that I had a standing appointment with my chiropractor. Getting out of bed for my many nightly visits to the bathroom was impossible unless my husband, Chris, literally pushed me out. During my first pregnancy, I reveled in the fact that I could wear non-maternity clothes. Now I felt as big as a house.

I felt this picture would help me feel more appreciative of my body, and it does. I look at it and realize just how beautiful my body was and how lucky I was to be pregnant. Spencer’s was a great birth experience, and I can honestly say that all else pales in comparison to the joy I feel when I look at her.
